A school in New Milford was closed Tuesday and an extra police presence was expected in Bloomfield after authorities learned of what are the latest in a wave of school threats.

New Milford police are investigating a threat that led to the closure of Schaghticoke Middle School on Tuesday.

A middle school in New Milford will be closed on Tuesday due to an active threat, according to school superintendent. Schaghticoke Middle School is the only school that will be closed, Superintendent Janet Parlato said.

All other schools in the district will be open with an extra police presence as an "additional precautionary measure," the superintendent said.
